Fishing Skills

Fishing skills are Gathering Skills. These skills require the use of a Fishing Rod and Bait, and allow you to catch fish and some non-fish items.

Quick start

Learn Fishing Proficiency for water or Lava Fishing for lava, equip a compatible durable Fishing Rod, carry suitable Bait, and cast into sufficiently deep water or lava. Water-type skills improve their matching medium, while Bait Recovery can preserve bait.

Bait Recovery	Chance to not consume bait when fishing in water
Fetid Water Fishing	Increases success chance when fishing in fetid water
Fishing Proficiency	Allows you to fish with a fishing pole and bait. Increases range and success chance when fishing in any water type. To begin fishing, use a fishing bait item in your inventory or non-combat bar.
Freshwater Fishing	Increases success chance when fishing in freshwater
Lava Fishing	Increases success chance when fishing in lava.
Saltwater Fishing	Increases success chance when fishing in saltwater

Verification

Species and rarity can depend on bait, medium, depth, location, rod, and skills. Record each detail, cast time, catch, bait recovery, and game release when testing rather than generalizing from one fishing spot.
