Young Dunkleosteus is a rare young variant of the Dunkleosteus caught through Lava Fishing. It was added to the fishing loot tables with eleven other young trophy-fish variants in Release 88.[1]
Characteristics
The Release 88 notes describe young fish as easier to catch than their ultra-rare full-size counterparts, with typical catch rates across the group between 1% and 3%. Young fish can be placed as decorations, do not carry trophy data, do not scale, and appear at 25% of the size of the smallest trophy version.[1]
Processing and crafting
Young fish were introduced so they could be processed at a Butchery Station with the same butchery recipes as their larger versions.[1] For this fish family, the processed material is Dunkleosteus Fillet.
SotAwiki also documents Mounted Young Dunkleosteus, a Tanning decoration crafted from a Young Dunkleosteus. Recipes recorded on the wiki that directly consume this item are listed below.

Verification needed
The following details should be checked against the current live game:
- the item's inventory weight and resale value;
- its current catch rate and which bait or lure types provide a bonus;
- whether it can be caught in every lava-fishing location or has additional scene restrictions;
- the exact number of Dunkleosteus Fillet produced when it is processed;
- whether its decoration size and lack of trophy data still match the Release 88 description; and
- the current ingredients, recipe source, teachability, and skill requirement for Mounted Young Dunkleosteus.
