Help:WikiMinder
More actions
WikiMinder helps everyone keep this wiki up to date. The game changes with every release, and nobody can check every page alone. With WikiMinder you can check what a page says against the game and tell the wiki in about a minute, without editing anything.
Quick start edit
- Create an account or log in.
- Open Special:WikiMinder. It gives you one small task at a time.
- Check what the task asks about in the game, then answer:
- Still correct: the wiki matches the game.
- Changed: something is different. If you know, write what it is now in What is it now?.
- Not sure: you couldn't check it. That's fine.
- Skip: show me something else. Skipped pages come back after a week.
- That's it. Your answer is recorded, and the next task is ready.
You can pick a topic (for example items, recipes, NPCs or creatures) at the top of the task page, if you'd rather check the things you know best.
The verification bar on pages edit
Pages with information you can check in the game have a Page verification bar at the bottom. It shows how well the community has checked the page, and how much could use a check, for example Page verification: Checked · 3 facts could use a check. Click it to open it:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unverified | Nobody has checked it yet. |
| Checked | One person checked it. |
| Community verified | At least two different people checked it, and nobody disagreed. |
| Strongly verified | At least three different people checked it, including an experienced verifier. |
| Conflicting reports | People disagree. Another check helps settle it. |
| Needs re-checking | It was checked, but a new release or a real edit happened since. |
Pages with several facts (for example a recipe's ingredients, skill and tools) show a status for each one, and you can answer for each fact separately.
Open the bar to answer about that page directly: Check these facts (or, on pages checked as a whole, Verify information) if you've checked it in the game, or Report a change if you've noticed something that's no longer right. On pages with facts, mark the fact that changed as Changed and, if you know, say what it is now. Pages marked with the needs verification banner also have a Help verify this page link.
What makes an answer count edit
A status is only as good as the checks behind it, so a few rules keep it honest:
- Different people. Two answers from the same person count once.
- Not your own edit. If you changed a page, someone else needs to confirm it. Your answer is still recorded.
- Brand-new accounts wait a little. On this wiki, answers from accounts less than a day old are recorded and start counting the next day.
- Once per release. After you have answered about a page, it is not offered to you again until there is a new release or a real edit.
- Answers are claims, not proof. Statuses come from many independent checks. Moderators can remove answers that turn out to be wrong or made in bad faith.
Answering never edits the page. When you report a change, editors and moderators see your note and can fix the page. If you're comfortable editing, you are welcome to fix it yourself, as always.
Renown, achievements and badges edit
Useful answers earn Renown, ranks, titles and achievements. They are just for fun: they never make your answers count more. See:
- Help:WikiMinder Renown and ranks: Renown, ranks, titles and leaderboards.
- Help:WikiMinder achievements: achievements, the badge for your user page, and the forum signature.
- Help:WikiMinder privacy: what others can see, and how to stay private.
Campaigns edit
Sometimes the community runs a campaign, such as a drive to re-check recipes after a release. Running campaigns appear at the top of the task page and on Special:Campaigns, with the community's progress towards the goal.
Questions edit
- Do I need to know how to edit the wiki?
- No. Answering a task needs no wiki markup at all.
- I answered wrongly. What now?
- Answer again from the page's verification bar. Your latest answer is the one that counts.
- Why wasn't my answer counted?
- Usually because you edited that page yourself, or you already answered it this release. The task page tells you when this happens.
- Who sees my notes?
- Notes go to moderators and editors who fix pages, on Special:VerificationModeration. They are not shown on the page.
- Moderators?
- See Help:WikiMinder for moderators.
