In your recipe book, recipes that you have learned will be designated in one of the following ways: | |||
* [[Teachable]] - the recipe will have "<span style="color:lime">(Teachable)</span>" appended to the end of the recipe name. | |||
* [[Re-Teachable]] - the recipe will have "<span style="color:lime">(Re-Teachable)</span>" appended to the end of the recipe name (all Re-Teachable recipes are also [[Discoverable]]). | |||

Recipe Book is an interface that displays the following information:
- Crafting Basics
- Crafting Skills information
- All currently known Recipes for the Avatar.
The Recipe Book can be accessed by pressing the B key.
Learning Recipes[edit]
Recipes can be learned (i.e. added to your Recipe Book) by the following methods:
- Double-clicking on a recipe document - recipe documents can be obtained as loot, purchased from other players, purchased from NPC Merchants, or obtained from an NPC during a quest. The title text of a recipe document distinguishes between recipes that you have or have not learned.
- Blue title text = recipe not learned (i.e. it is not in your recipe book).
- White title text = recipe already learned (i.e. it is already in your recipe book).
- Learning from another player - some recipes can be taught to you by another player. See "Teaching Your Recipes to Other Players" below.
- Discovered - Discoverable recipes can be learned (discovered) by placing the ingredients on the correct Crafting Station and then crafting the item. The first time you craft the item, the recipe will be added to your Recipe Book.
See Learning for more details.
Teaching Your Recipes to Other Players[edit]
In your recipe book, recipes that you have learned will be designated in one of the following ways:
- Teachable - the recipe will have "(Teachable)" appended to the end of the recipe name.
- Re-Teachable - the recipe will have "(Re-Teachable)" appended to the end of the recipe name (all Re-Teachable recipes are also Discoverable).
- Not Teachable - the recipe will have nothing regarding teaching appended to the end of the recipe name.
| Type of Recipe |
You Can Teach Recipe to Other Players? | Players Who Learned Recipe from You Can Teach it to Other Players? |
Discoverable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Not Teachable † | No | (not Applicable) | No |
| Teachable | Yes (the player who learns the recipe will learn it as Not Teachable) | No | No |
| Re-Teachable | Yes (the player who learns the recipe will learn it as Re-Teachable) | Yes | Yes |
† Not Teachable recipes will not have "(Teachable)" nor "(Re-Teachable)" appended to the recipe name in your Recipe Book.
For recipes that are either Teachable or Re-Teachable, teaching a recipe is done by opening a trade window with another player (by right clicking on the player and then clicking "trade"), then dragging the recipe from your Recipe Book and into the trade window. Both players then accept the trade.
Sections & Content of the Recipe Book[edit]
Crafting Basics[edit]
There are three rings of Crafting:
Gathering, Refining and Production
File:SotA Concept Crafting Symbol.jpg
Gathering is collecting raw resources
that can be used in crafting.
This is the innermost ring on the crafting
Sigil and includes:
Mining, Forestry, Agriculture, Field Dressing,
and Foraging.
Refining is taking raw resources and
turning them into refined elements that
can be used to craft complete items. This
is the middle ring of the Crafting Sigil
and includes: Smelting, Milling, Textiles,
Tanning, and Butchery.
Production is taking refined elements or
raw resources and turning
them into finished goods.
This is the outermost ring of the Crafting
Sigil and includes:
Blacksmithing, Carpentry, Tailoring,
Cooking and Alchemy.
Gathering[edit]
Resource Nodes can be found throughout
the world that produce certain raw
ingredients. The correct tool is required
to harvest these nodes. Tools can be used
when equipped or from a non-combat
toolbar shortcut.

Refining and Production[edit]
Recipes are used for crafting and
creating items. Recipes are an.
exact combination of tools and ingredients
placed on crafting table.
Crafting tables can be found in cities and
functional decoration versions can be
purchased for homes.
Drag items from your inventory to the
crafting table interface to begin to create
recipes. Once a valid recipe ingredient
combination is found, the "craft" button on
the table interface will become active.
This crafting book contains recipe
shortcuts that automatically add the
required ingredients, from your inventory
to the crafting table.
New recipe shortcuts are unlocked the
first time a recipe is crafted.
Salvaging Items[edit]
Weapons, Armor and Decorations can be
broken apart into smaller pieces by being
salvaged at certain crafting tables.
Drag an item and the appropriate tool for
the table to the crafting interface tp
begin salvaging. The Salvage button will
light up if a salvage can be performed.
Training your salvage ability will allow you
to recover additional craps.
Scraps can be used to create components
which can then be used to create new
items.
Repairing Items[edit]
Weapons and Armor can be repaired at
certain crafting tables. The max
durability of equipment decreases with
use, and the only way to restore it is to
use a crafting table.
Drag an item, a repair kit and the
appropriate tool to the crafting interface
to attempt a repair. The Repair button will
light up if the item can be repaired.
Training your repair ability will allow you
to recover more durability per repair.
