Crafting components
Crafting components are intermediate items used to assemble equipment, pet gear, and decorations. They may be crafted from refined materials, recovered through salvaging, or obtained as loot. When an equipment component carries a Material Crafting Bonus, that bonus is inherited by the finished item that uses it.[1][2]
The component—not merely the raw material—determines the actual statistic and value. Meteoric Iron made into a sheet, binding, hilt, or sword blade does not produce one universal bonus. Check the component page and the finished-item preview before committing rare materials.
Where should I look?
| What you are making | Detailed guide | Component families to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Armor | Armor Enhancement and Material Crafting Bonus | Metal sheets, coils of wire, bindings, cloth bolts, leather yards, and cloth or leather straps |
| Melee weapon | Weapon Enhancement | Blade or weapon head, then hilt or wooden handle |
| Bow or crossbow | Weapon Enhancement | Short or long bowstave and bowstring; crossbows use stocks and other recipe-specific components |
| Wand or staff | Focus Enhancement | Heartwood plus cloth or leather straps |
| Ring or necklace | Jewelry Enhancement | The jewelry's metal, followed by a socketed jewel where eligible |
| Pet equipment | Pet Equipment | Studded strips of leather and the specific pet-equipment recipe |
| Decoration | This page's decoration section | Glass sheets, symbols, wooden bindings, and wooden boards generally serve construction or appearance rather than equipment bonuses |
How component bonuses work
| Step | What to check |
|---|---|
| Choose the finished recipe | Which component families it accepts and how many copies it uses |
| Choose each component | Its recorded Material Crafting Bonus and the release in which the recipe was last verified |
| Add matching bonuses | Multiple copies of a component contribute multiple copies of its recorded modifier |
| Keep unlike units separate | Flat Focus, percentage Focus, Damage Resistance, avoidance, and other statistics should not be combined merely because their names sound related |
| Apply later enhancements | Masterwork, Enchantment, Gems, and Jewels are separate layers where the item permits them |
Many component records were last checked in older releases. The enhancement guides expose those version labels for their comparison tables. Dynamic lists below are useful catalogs, but their presence does not mean every individual entry has been recently verified.
Weapon components
- Metal blades and heads
These form the primary striking component of many metal weapons. Values can scale differently between weapon families and between one- and two-handed versions.

Bone Plate
“Bone Plate” is used both for a crafted intermediate item and as a family name for Enforced Bone Plate components used in bone armor. Check the target recipe carefully when following this list.
Variations
See Material Crafting Bonus for the versioned metal, leather, and cloth armor comparison and Armor Enhancement for the complete enhancement workflow.
Jewelry and socket components
Crafted rings and necklaces inherit their base bonuses directly from the metal recipe rather than from a separately selected blade- or sheet-like component. Eligible jewelry can then receive a Jewel or Imbued Jewel. Chest armor, weapons, and shields use Gems or Imbued Gems instead.
| Socket item | Used with | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Gem | Eligible chest armor, weapons, and shields | See the individual gem and equipment pages |
| Jewel | Eligible rings and necklaces | See Jewelry Enhancement#Standard jewels |
| Imbued Gem | Eligible chest armor, weapons, and shields | Special effects vary by item |
| Imbued Jewel | Eligible crafted jewelry; artifact restrictions may differ | See Jewelry Enhancement#Imbued jewels |
