The Point of Interest System (POIS) is a player-created Lua add-on for recording, finding, and sharing locations within scenes. Players can name and color their own points, display world labels, mirror visible points onto the region map and minimap, and track distance and direction from a movable list.[1]

Getting started

  1. Install POIS and its required SotA Event System (SES) dependency through /addons.
  2. Enable Run for both packages. Newly installed add-ons begin disabled.[2]
  3. Add a point at the current position, give it a useful name and color, then select it in the tracked-points list.
  4. Install optional point-library add-ons when you want a maintained set of locations for a particular activity.

Features and privacy

POIS includes add, search, export, and import tools; color filters; tray and toast notifications; map and minimap markers; and optional map-beacon integration. Version 1.23.0 places up to the 50 nearest visible points for the current scene on the map, using each point's color and a diamond for library points. Show Points on Map is enabled by default in Settings, may be disabled, and automatically hides the markers in PvP scenes. Its import and export workflow uses text that the player deliberately copies and pastes. Points are stored locally, the package requests no Internet permission, and nearby players do not see a user's POIS labels, points, or commands.[3]

Point-library add-ons can register curated sets without folding that data into POIS itself. Rabbit Locations in Castle Atos is one such library.
