The SotA Event System (SES) is a shared developer library for Lua add-ons. It observes supported game-state changes and turns them into named events that other packages can subscribe to, allowing their authors to share one event layer instead of rebuilding the same monitoring code.[1]

Players normally install SES because another add-on lists it as a dependency. It has no required dependency of its own.

Using SES

  1. Open Community Addons with /addons and install SES, or install a package that requires it.
  2. Enable Run for SES and for the add-on that uses it. Newly installed add-ons begin disabled.[2]
  3. Configure the dependent add-on; SES is infrastructure and generally does not need ordinary player interaction.

Events and privacy

SES provides events for changes involving the player's health, focus, gold, buffs, inventory, pet, nearby party members, scene, map beacon, input, and sound. It also offers custom messages between add-ons and can relay combat-log events.[1]

The package performs no chat or gameplay actions and requests no Internet permission. It does not save player data except optional runtime configuration used by an add-on.
