Buff Monitor System (BMS) is a player-created Lua add-on for arranging player and pet status effects in configurable heads-up displays. It can also call attention to short combat opportunities created by ripostes, dodges, spell critical hits, and shield blocks.[1]
Getting started
- Install both Buff Monitor System and its required SotA Event System (SES) dependency through
/addons. - Enable Run for both packages. Newly installed add-ons begin disabled.[2]
- Open BMS settings from its in-game control, choose which effects to display, and set warning thresholds or sounds as desired.
- Drag an ordinary monitor by its grip. Hold
Left Ctrlwhile dragging the optional active UI Stack anchor.
All current settings are managed in game. BMS can import settings from older loose-file versions when it finds them.[1]

Features
- Separate, configurable displays for player buffs, pet buffs, and combat opportunities.
- Duration thresholds, warning sounds, positioning controls, and hover tooltips.
- Built-in spoken expiration warnings for ordinary player buffs that have no custom sound; short buffs, pets, and synthetic indicators are excluded.
- Global icon scaling that immediately rebuilds native HUD icons at the selected size.
- Opportunity alerts for riposte after a parry, Opportunity Strike after a dodge, Aetheric Feedback after a spell critical hit, and Answering Blow after a shield block.
The package requests no Internet permission. Its manifest requires Lua API 21 and SES, which supplies shared event handling.[1]
