The Player Quest System Engine (PQS) is a player-created Lua add-on that runs community-authored quests. It provides a quest journal, conversations, virtual quest items, tray alerts, and live tracking for gathering and defeating creatures. The engine itself does not include quests; separate quest-library packages supply the playable content.[1]
Getting started
- Install PQS, its required SotA Event System (SES) dependency, and at least one compatible quest library through
/addons. - Enable Run for the engine, dependency, and desired libraries. Newly installed add-ons begin disabled.[2]
- Open the PQS journal and select a supplied quest.
- Configure the tray-alert sound if desired.
PQS uses local gameplay messages and combat events to recognize supported quest progress. It saves progress locally and requests no Internet permission. Its bundled documentation says older save data is imported when found.[1]

For quest authors
Quest content belongs in a library add-on rather than in the engine. This separation allows PQS to update its interface and tracking while authors maintain and distribute their own quest collections independently.
