Player Owned Town

From Shroud of the Avatar Wiki - SotA
Player Owned Town

A Player Owned Town (POT) is a settlement owned and managed by a player. Its governor can arrange property markers, invite residents, appoint stewards, set access rules, and shape the town into anything from a quiet neighborhood to a busy market or role-playing community.[1]

Governance

The governor is the town's owner and principal administrator. Stewards can help manage the settlement, while resident and banned lists control local access. Governors and stewards can place lots, reserve them for particular residents, evict occupants when necessary, choose a spawn point, and publish a message of the day.[2]

The in-game Town Console brings the principal management tools together. It can be opened from a property marker's lot-management window or with /townconsole. Its tabs cover the town overview, lots, citizens, message of the day, and spawn point.[2]

Housing and residents

The governor places Property Markers that define claimable lots. A resident still needs a compatible Lot Deed to claim one. Because reservation and residency rules differ by town, prospective residents should read the town's message and contact its governor or stewards before settling in.

Town membership can include the governor, stewards, and lot holders. Community pages may also distinguish residents from people who own a lot but have not joined the town's community.[3]

Town sizes and scenes

POTs are offered in several administrative sizes. A larger size increases the town's available capacity; it does not necessarily enlarge the scene map. Existing towns may be upgraded through the account page or by contacting support, with COTOs used for upgrades.[1]

A town also uses a scene template, which determines its underlying landscape and layout. The official site maintains a gallery of player-owned town templates.

This article needs verification. (Specific reason: Confirm the current capacity limits, included town-management items, available scene templates, water-lot behavior, and upgrade procedure for every town size. Older figures and purchase bundles were removed because they were not verified against a current primary source.)

Travel and identification

A Player Owned Town marker on the overworld

Most POTs appear as named entrances on the overworld. Town governors and stewards can also place certain town teleporters to connect destinations within the supported rules.[4]
