Magic Specialization

This article needs verification. (Specific reason: In the current client, confirm how many specializations may be trained or maintained, the automatic unlearn behavior, school prerequisites, trainer offerings, and the current attunement, mastery, and resistance coefficients.)

Magic specialization is advanced training devoted to one magic school. A specialization skill can add school attunement and mastery, change individual spells, summons, or passive effects, and impose a resistance tradeoff. The exact benefits differ by school and have changed over time.
Existing school pages describe a character as able to maintain two specialization skills while actively training no more than one at a time. They also describe enabling another specialization as potentially setting an existing one to unlearn. Those rules were last broadly recorded on the wiki for Release 109 and remain part of the current-client verification request rather than an unqualified promise.

The established skill title remains Lunar Magic Specialization even though the school is now presented as Moon Magic.
Mastery and skill effects
Specialization is not merely a flat school bonus. Individual skills can read the school's mastery value to alter duration, range, cooldown, control chance, summons, secondary effects, or other behavior. A skill that does not read specialization receives no school-specific rider simply because the character has trained the specialization.
Catnip's 2026 change record documents several corrections to specialization behavior: summoned elementals were changed to use their own schools' specialization and attunement, and specialization riders on roughly fifty skills were corrected to work against other players.[1] These fixes confirm that specialization remains active and skill-specific; they do not validate every coefficient or effect listed on older wiki pages.
Version and proposal status
Official school Deep Dive pages can contain current diagnoses, completed fixes, built work awaiting deployment, proposals, and owner decisions on the same page. A feature marked Built should not be described as live unless a current-change or release entry confirms it. School pages should identify the supporting release or live version when a specialization feature changes.
