Moderators keep WikiMinder's answers honest: they settle disagreements, remove answers that are wrong or made in bad faith, and look out for abuse. See also: Help:WikiMinder.

Who moderates edit

Administrators can moderate. Bureaucrats can also give trusted contributors the Verification moderators group on Special:UserRights, without making them administrators.

Bureaucrats also add experienced contributors to the Established verifiers group. A page needs a confirmation from one of them to become strongly verified. Being established doesn't make anyone's answer count more than once.

The moderation page edit

Everything happens on Special:VerificationModeration:

Tab What you'll find
Conflicts Pages and facts where people disagree, with each answer and its note. Settle it with The confirmers are right or The reporters are right.
Reports Recent Changed answers and their notes, often with the new value. Use them to fix pages, or accept a correction someone else made from it.
Signals Many answers in a short time, or several wiki accounts that answered as one person. Signals only point at something to look at. Nothing happens automatically.
Suspensions Who is suspended from answering, and until when.
Log Every moderation action, newest first.

Open a contributor from any tab to see all their answers, remove or restore them, suspend them, or reverse a Renown entry.

Actions edit

  • Remove answers: they stop counting. Statuses are recalculated, and the Renown and achievements they earned are taken back. Nothing is deleted; you can restore them.
  • Settle a conflict: removes the wrong side's answers on that page or fact.
  • Suspend from answering: for a number of days or until lifted. Editing the wiki is not affected; use a normal block for that.
  • Reverse Renown: takes back one Renown entry.

Every action needs a reason, and can have a comment that only moderators see. The public only sees that an answer on this page was removed by a moderator, never by whom or whose.

Good practice edit

  • Check in the game before settling a conflict, when you can.
  • Prefer removing a handful of bad answers to suspending someone. A mistaken answer is not abuse.
  • For repeated bad faith, suspend first and talk to the person on their talk page.
  • Fix the page. Moderation settles answers, but only an edit changes what the page says.
  • When the community has verified a page flagged with the needs verification banner, it is listed on Special:WikiMinder/resolved-flags; remove the banner there.
