Release 150

From Shroud of the Avatar Wiki - SotA

RELEASE 150, June 2, 2026

Release 150 went live on June 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CDT. It expanded building options with wooden-door basement and dungeon entrance patterns, repaired calculations for two poison and equipment-repair effects, and delivered a wide sweep of world, quest, decoration, and player-owned dungeon maintenance.[1]

The official launch notes contain 53 entries across crafting, combat, world, player-owned town, dungeon, basement, and website work. This is a count of published entries rather than a bug total; many entries introduce content or combine changes across several scenes.[1]

At a glance

Area What changed
Building and decoration Wooden-door basement and dungeon entrance patterns became widely available, with gardening, home, tree, and item-art improvements alongside them.
Combat and equipment Two poison potions regained a missing effectiveness bonus, and the subscriber repair bonus for Obsidian Potions of Reclamation was corrected.
World and quests Twenty-nine entries covered seasonal fish, dialogue, tasks, loot, terrain, scene art, and numerous stuck spots.
Player-owned spaces Two towns changed, while lava-room and spider-room components received attempted or confirmed repairs.
Platform safety The main website's linked installers were replaced with versions using more modern security.

Doors that lead somewhere unusual

Three similar wooden doors demonstrate ordinary, basement, and pulsing dungeon entrances.

Housing merchants everywhere began selling patterns for Wooden Door Basement Entrances, while booksellers received patterns for Wooden Door Dungeon Entrances.[1] These let builders disguise special entrances as ordinary wooden interior doors. Dungeon versions retain a reddish pulse, giving observant visitors a warning that the next room may be rather larger—and less hospitable—than the house exterior suggests.

The same release improved several existing structures. Light could pass correctly through door windows in two Stone Five-Story Wizard's Tower homes, and the gravestone and tomb dungeon entrances received optimized PNG textures. Planting pots were rebuilt to correct decoration overlap, while planting beds not already using mesh collision were updated to do so.[1]

Player-owned dungeon maintenance addressed three more trouble spots. Spawners in the Blackblade player lava room were raised in hopes of keeping them out of the walls. Navigation meshes in floors two and three of the Spider Room and its boss room received an attempted fix, and the spider totem slot's tooltip was corrected.[1] Because the launch notes describe the first two changes cautiously, they should not be read as guarantees that every related pathing problem vanished.

Gardens, trees, and inventory polish

Immature and mature white rose bushes could now be crafted into every planting-bed and pot variant. Four-story cherry blossom trees gained a wider resizing range to make town-lot placement easier; tabletop versions received longer level-of-detail distance, and all cherry blossom trees received adjusted billboard color.[1]

Several less visible changes tidied item data. Retired magical black dye bundles were renamed and described more clearly, one Cabalist Indigno's Hood salvage bundle was repaired, the dyeable balloon cluster lost an oversized icon, and aether lich and dragon statues shed irrelevant item flags. The lich statue also received a new icon. Streamer rewards gained a bundle that could package fifty objects into one mailed item.[1]

The Vanduul Polearm received updated textures, although its decoration-placement version still needed work. That explicit limitation matters: R150 improved the held item without claiming the decorative form was finished.[1]

Two calculations put back on course

Plain Poison Potion and Poison Potion, Chaotic Corruption had been missing the poison-effectiveness bonus in their damage calculations. R150 restored it.[1] This was a calculation correction rather than a new poison effect, but it could directly change the damage produced by characters already using those potions.

The blacksmithing repair bonus supplied to subscribers by Obsidian Potions of Reclamation was also fixed.[1] Together, the two combat-and-skill entries focused on making existing bonuses count where their descriptions said they should.

Fish, conversations, and fewer holes

The seasonal fish changed watch as the aether comet approached: Aether Tetras awoke, while Neon Tetras began their break.[1] Two-handed axe drop chances were adjusted, and the Undead Reaver in Owl's Nest Mine received an updated loot table.

Quest and conversation repairs reached several locations. Ardoris NPCs had multiple responses corrected, books in the Battle of Solace Bridge lost several typos, and Shooter Jensen's logic in Harvest became more reliable at clearing the secret password task. Horace in Etceter consistently displayed his Housing Merchant title, and Mylo was moved off a Castle Atos mound so he could move normally.[1] South Varisalla Foothills replaced a melee skeleton with a Bloodbone Footman.

Much of the remaining work targeted scenery. Lot terrain was flattened in Holtrot, Kingswood, Righ Inis, and Valemark. Old visual-effect emitters producing errors on the three overworlds were removed, and textures were updated for South Fetid Swamp, related areas, and optional land created with built-in water lots.[1]

Stuck spots were repaired in the Approach to the Shuttered Eye, Blood River Outskirts, Castle Atos, Celestis, the Crypt of the Avatar, the Epitaph, the Fall, Grusk, Highvale Outskirts, the Isle of Storms, Lost Whiteguard Silver Mine, Middle Downs, the Obsidian Panopticon, Port Harmony, Solace Bridge Outskirts, and Vikland. The Forest Siege Encounter lost a troublesome root, while Castle Atos also improved collision on a broken wagon and vertical fishing nets.[1] It was a formidable month for rocks, roots, barrels, and other objects with ambitions of becoming prison wardens.

Towns and safer installers

Belly of the Snake changed governor. Covenant of the Phoenix was upgraded to Hamlet and rotated left.[1] These were the only player-owned town changes in the launch list.

Outside the game client, the installers linked from the main website were updated to versions with more modern security. The account-page installers were already newer.[1] This distinction avoids implying that the game itself changed its security architecture in R150; the published fix concerned which installer downloads the main page offered.

Rewards and release events

The Small Aether Corpion Statue, one of R150's subscriber login rewards.

Subscribers who logged in during R150 received a Small Aether Corpion Statue, a Wooden Wagon with Sides, and a Two-Story Cherry Tree.[1] The same themes continued through related Crown Store additions, including larger cherry trees, creature spawners, carts, entrance styles, and garden objects.

The silver-edged R150 Commemorative Cloak among several older cloak styles.

The general June login reward was an R150 Commemorative Cloak. The announcement specified that it would not be added to the store after June, making it a time-limited account reward rather than a permanent catalog item.[1]

A summer-solstice sale was announced for June 2 through June 8, and the post-release community livestream was scheduled for June 5.[1] These dates are retained as release history and do not describe current availability.

What returning players should know

  • Housing merchants and booksellers now carry the new wooden-door patterns for basement and dungeon entrances, respectively.
  • White rose bushes work across all planting-bed and pot recipes.
  • Poison effectiveness once again contributes to the two affected poison-potion damage calculations.
  • Aether Tetras replaced Neon Tetras for the seasonal comet period.
  • Belly of the Snake has a new governor, and Covenant of the Phoenix became a Hamlet and changed orientation.
  • Some player-owned dungeon fixes were explicitly described as attempted or hopeful; do not assume every related pathing issue was conclusively eliminated.

Research boundary

The official launch announcement is the completeness baseline for R150. Catnip's current roadmap and patch-notes pages were checked for context, but matching archived weekly work-log pages for the launch period were not available at their expected URLs. No later work has therefore been assigned to this release merely because it resembles an R150 change.
