RELEASE 149, April 29, 2026
Release 149 went live on April 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. CDT. Its centerpiece was a new set of spawnable lava-fishing rooms for player-owned dungeons, backed by expanded Fire Elemental tiers. It also introduced discreet door patterns for basement and dungeon entrances, expanded the white-rose gardening set, and prepared the world for the return of the aether comet.[1]
Beyond the featured additions, the official patch-note sections contain 26 entries across crafting, combat, world, quest, and player-owned dungeon work. That number describes published entries rather than bugs fixed; it does not include the announcement's longer feature explanations.[1]
At a glance
| Area | What changed |
|---|---|
| Player-owned dungeons | Three lava-fishing rooms gained spawnable variants populated by expanded tiers of Fire Elementals and occasional Lava Golems. |
| Entrances | Patterns could disguise basement and dungeon teleporters as restrained wooden doors. |
| Gardening and decoration | White rose seeds, bouquet and arrangement recipes, regional building recipes, and several visual improvements arrived. |
| Combat clarity | Air Elemental attacks and Flesh Flayer roots gained clearer names or debuff icons; Green Growth potions were blocked in NPC towns. |
| Seasonal world | The Arch Lapin was due to yield to the Luminous Atavist, followed by the awakening of three aether creature families. |
Fire below

R149 added spawnable versions of the Ancient Stone Lava Fishing Grotto, Ancient Stone Large Lava Fishing Room, and Cave Stone Room Lava Grotto, the last being the Blackblade Pass room. Each uses a Fire Elemental totem pedestal at Connection One. Fire Elemental tiers were expanded to provide more varied opposition, and occasional Lava Golems could join their allies.[1]
Owners of the decorative versions could convert them at a smelting station using the room, an ancient essence, and a stone chisel. The room first had to be removed from the dungeon. The announcement strongly recommended testing layout changes on QA because removing a room without a second route to the foyer can collapse every section beyond it.[1]
Two of the three spawnable rooms gained new areas from which the encounter's command staff could operate, while the third was left for a future expansion. Their void displacement was kept compatible with the decorative versions' footprints. A known launch issue could place the Fire Elemental totem visual out of alignment until the next scene load.[1]
The existing Blackblade Pass dungeon piece also received a cautious repair for lava-damage volumes triggering outside the lava. The source says it was fixed “hopefully,” so continued edge cases were not ruled out.[1]
A door instead of a portal

New patterns could be applied to the Basement Hatch Teleporter and a Dungeon Entrance Teleporter, allowing either special entrance to attach to an interior or exterior wall like a conventional wooden door. The basement version had no swirl, pulse, or sparkle. The dungeon door retained only a slight pulse in the wood's color.[1]
These first patterns favored subtlety over spectacle, useful for builders who wanted a basement to resemble part of the house rather than a magical transport hub. The announcement said more door styles and a craftable version were planned, but those future additions were not part of the R149 launch build.
White roses and regional craftwork

Florists and rose-seed farmers began stocking White Rose Bush Seeds. Florists also gained recipes for a White Rose Bouquet and White Rose Arrangement, while the existing Fancy Vase of White Roses was updated to match the new plants.[1] Rose-bush billboards and distance culling were improved, along with culling for azalea bushes and tulip vases.
Regional merchants received additional decoration recipes. Ingvar the Carpenter in Ardoris sold recipes for a Perennial Coast Gazebo and Perennial Coast Guard Tower, while Verdantis housing-decoration merchants gained the Hanging Potted White Flowering Azalea recipe.[1]
House windows were audited to ensure they admitted light, although six houses still required mesh work and some window muntins still needed proper shadows. Mature carrot displays were adjusted so planted pots and beds could be moved without roots interfering. Haunted dolls also stopped triggering their jump scare merely because a player approached.[1]
Clearer effects and firmer boundaries
The default Air Elemental attack was named Shock and given a lightning debuff icon. Flesh Flayer roots received the correct root icon, and capitalization was corrected across the Blessings of Atos tooltips.[1] These changes made existing combat effects easier to identify rather than changing their fundamental roles.
Potions of Green Growth stopped functioning in NPC towns.[1] This closed off their growth effect in shared settlements while leaving the item itself available for appropriate locations.
The comet approaches
R149 published two dated seasonal transitions. The Arch Lapin was scheduled to go dormant and the Luminous Atavist to return on May 16. On May 27, Aether Dragons, Aether Liches, and Aether Corpions were due to awaken as the two-tailed comet drew near; Aether Tetras would follow a few days later.[1]
The world received smaller repairs around those events. Invisible onion crates were corrected everywhere they appeared—despite having remained surprisingly stealable—and water volumes in Paladis Shardfall were enabled. The Sequanna Pagoda in Celestis lost redundant floors and railings, while an inaccessible mesh in Nightshade Pass that generated errors was fixed.[1]
Stuck spots were repaired in the Approach to the Shuttered Eye, Brittany Estates, Lamech's Bazaar, South Midmaer Way, Lord British's Castle, Ulfheim, and Wynton's Folly.[1] The last solution involved another strategically placed rock, confirming that New Britannian geology remains both problem and remedy.
Rewards and release events
R149 subscribers received a Shogun Gazebo, Shrine Gate, and Shogun Hand Lantern by logging in during the release. The general May login reward was three Paper Wall Lamps.[1] Related Shogun structures, flowers, lamps, and entrance patterns also appeared in the Crown Store on announced schedules.
The post-release livestream was scheduled for May 1. The launch announcement also described a release sale and player-owned town upgrade discount.[1] These promotions are historical release information rather than statements of current availability.
What returning players should know
- Existing versions of the three lava-fishing rooms can be converted into spawnable versions at a smelting station.
- Remove and reroute dungeon rooms carefully; an unsupported branch beyond a removed room can collapse.
- The Fire Elemental totem visual could remain misaligned until the scene was reloaded at launch.
- Basement and dungeon teleporter patterns provide visually quiet wooden-door entrances.
- White rose seeds and two floral recipes are available from florists, with seeds also sold by applicable farmers.
- Green Growth potions no longer function in NPC towns.

Research boundary
The official launch announcement is the completeness baseline for R149. Catnip's roadmap and patch-notes pages were checked for context, but expected weekly work-log archive URLs for the launch period were unavailable. Later work was not assigned to this release by inference.
