Add-ons/Buff Monitor System (BMS)/Using monitors
More actions
Using monitors
Buff Monitor System displays separate HUD icons for selected player effects, pet effects, health, and short combat opportunities. Real game skill art is used when available, with bundled art as a fallback.[1]
Open the configuration
Select the BMS tray or press Right Alt+M with the default binding. The configuration window lists every monitor. Select On/Off to activate a monitor and Settings for its individual overrides. Changing the global Enable/Disable Key replaces M immediately.
Indicators are hidden while the main configuration is open so the grid remains readable. Hover an active icon for its description and remaining time when tooltips are enabled.
Arrange icons
Ordinary icons have their own drag grip. The four optional UI Stack monitors collect active icons into one vertical or horizontal stack; only one stack direction can be active. Hold Left Ctrl while dragging the active stack anchor, then release Ctrl to save its location.
Reset Position affects one monitor. Reset All Positions in Global Settings requires a second confirmation click and returns every icon to its default spot. HUD icon mode uses native movable frames; changing HUD mode or global X/Y offset requires /lua reload.[1]
Thresholds and sounds
An effect normally changes to warning at 50 percent remaining and severe at 25 percent. Global Settings defines the defaults; Skill Settings can override warning, severe, sound threshold, sound file, volume, and tooltip delay for one monitor. An override switch set to Off inherits the global value.
Global sound can be disabled or set from 0–100. A monitor can play its own file when it crosses the configured threshold. Recasts update the same monitor rather than requiring a second icon.
Version 5.9.58 can use the game's spoken expiration warning for a real player buff that has no custom sound. The warning occurs at the monitor's Sound Threshold. Global Settings can disable Built-in Buff Warnings or prepend “Attention”; selecting sound file none silences that monitor. Buffs shorter than ten seconds, pet effects, and synthetic indicators do not use the built-in warning.[1]
Combat opportunities
| Monitor | Opens after |
|---|---|
| Riposte | The player parries |
| Opportunity Strike | The player dodges |
| Aetheric Feedback | The player scores a spell critical hit |
| Answering Blow | The player blocks with a shield |
These are inferred from supported combat events and last for the configured opportunity timeout, three seconds by default. They are reminders, not combat automation; BMS cannot activate the related skill.[1]
Health and pet monitors
The player-health and pet-health monitors are synthesized from observed health state. Pet food and pet buff monitors appear only while the matching effect is present. If a pet is dismissed, its current monitored effects are removed.
