Glyph
More actions
A glyph is the historical name for a combat-card icon representing an active skill or usable ability in Shroud of the Avatar. Release 154 renamed combat cards runes throughout the current interface.[1] This page title is retained because older documentation, wiki links, and community discussions use glyph.
Types
Most adventuring runes represent learned attacks, spells, defenses, or strategy abilities. A Combat Glyph is the established wiki name for an active adventuring rune intended for use through the combat interface. Some eligible utility skills and usable items can instead be placed on the Utility Bar.
Innate skills are passive and do not need to be placed in a deck or on a bar.
Deck behavior
In a locked slot, a rune stays assigned to the same Combat Bar position. In an unlocked deck, runes are dealt into available slots and expire if they are not used. Matching unlocked runes can be stacked, while certain different runes can be combined into combo runes.
The current exact limit on copies of a rune that may be added to a Deck should be verified in the client rather than inferred from older glyph instructions.
Terminology
Older SotAwiki articles and official instructions may say glyph, combat glyph, or combo glyph. In the current interface these are respectively rune, combat rune, and combo rune. Historical quotations and page titles may retain the older term.[1]
