Combat Bar
More actions
The Combat Bar is the row of slots used to activate combat runes in Shroud of the Avatar. These combat cards were formerly called glyphs; Release 154 renamed them throughout the current interface.[1] The bar works with the equipped Deck and becomes available while the Avatar is in combat stance.
Using the bar
Each slot may contain a locked rune or receive runes dealt from an unlocked deck. A locked rune stays assigned to its slot and becomes available again after its cooldown. An unlocked slot can receive eligible runes from the deck, allowing the available hand to change during combat.
Runes can be activated with their assigned keys or by clicking them. The bar also supports stacking matching runes and combining compatible runes into combos when the deck permits it.
The Combat Bar is distinct from the Utility Bar, which remains available outside combat and can hold eligible non-combat skills and items.
Customization
Deck building allows players to choose which runes can appear and to assign them to particular slots. Locked runes offer predictable placement, while unlocked runes trade some predictability for faster reuse and access to stacking and combos. A deck may mix the two approaches.
Official Release 40 notes documented the ability to assign locked combat cards—then called glyphs—directly to empty Combat Bar slots.[2]
