Armor Set Bonus rewards an Avatar for wearing multiple unbroken armor pieces that match the light or heavy category of the equipped torso armor. Rather than improving the armor pieces' raw protection directly, the current documented version increases the effectiveness of many skills in the corresponding Light Armor or Heavy Armor tree.
The recorded progression is:
| Matching pieces | Bonus |
|---|---|
| 1 | 2% |
| 2 | 5% |
| 3 | 9% |
| 4 | 14% |
| 5 | 20% |
Release 81 introduced this progression, replacing the former 2.5% per-piece values.[1]
History
The system has changed substantially over time. Release 19 initially granted a 10% armor-value bonus for wearing a full suit from the same armor category.[2] Release 51 replaced that full-set requirement with a 2.5% bonus per matching light- or heavy-armor piece and applied the benefit to skills in the relevant tree.[3] Release 81 then changed the five steps to 2%, 5%, 9%, 14%, and 20%.
Verification needed
- Confirm which five equipment slots count and whether the torso is included in the displayed count.
- Confirm that pieces at zero durability stop qualifying.
- Test mixed cloth and leather sets, mixed chain and plate sets, shields, and special headgear.
- Identify every skill whose effectiveness changes and the exact calculation.
- Determine whether appearance patterns affect qualification.
