A lot (also known as a property) is a portion of land or water within a town on which a Property Marker has been placed.
Unclaimed lots can be claimed by players using an appropriately sized Lot Deed (certain restrictions apply).
Lot Sizes
There are several lot sizes (listed from smallest to largest):
Scenes that Have Lots
Lots may be found in Player Owned Towns, Player Run Towns, and NPC Towns.
Larger towns have the capacity for more lots, and will often have more of the larger lot sizes.
Finding an Available (Unclaimed) Lot
When in a scene with lots, you can identify available lots by the following methods:
- Ask town criers or guards - if you ask “how many houses are free?”, they will respond by displaying a list of all lots in the scene and whether each lot is owned by someone or if it is unclaimed. This listing allows you to set a compass waypoint to any specific lot.
- Holding down the P key - this will send out a visual “flare” beacon from any available lots nearby.
- Double-click on a Property Marker - the property marker window that pops up will state "unclaimed" if the lot is available.

After a player has claimed the lot, they can place Decorations on it.

Additional Information
Town Criers may also bind you to a town on request, which sets that town as your Recall point for Recall scrolls. This can be handy if you do not own a lot to bind to.
