Update of the Avatar #43 – 2013.10.10: Combat Sigil, Story Preview, Basements, and Druid Home
Update 43 revealed the Combat Sigil, published the first substantial preview of New Britannia's history, introduced player-housing basements, documented the Druid Town Home, and expanded the number of houses included with several pledge tiers.[1]
Combat Sigil

The Combat Sigil represented eight martial schools. Four concerned armor—Light, Medium, Heavy, and Shields—while the other four covered Blades, Polearms, Bludgeons, and Ranged weapons. The update showed several treatments created by concept artist Stephen Daniele.[1]
Story preview
The issue's story excerpt was narrated by Arabella. It described a world still rebuilding four centuries after a cataclysm, with scattered ruins preserving little of the civilization that came before. Later generations formed city-states in response to warlords, sorcerers, new magic, and monsters, while a specific prophecy warned that another cycle was approaching.[1]
The archive summarizes that material rather than reproducing the original passage; the official post remains the primary text.[1]
Player-housing basements
Basements emerged from technical investigation into underground transitions and requests for expandable housing. Rather than cutting directly into terrain, the announced Episode 1 design used a separate underground space reached through a map transition. Community feedback led Portalarium to plan Village, Town, and City sizes with multiple materials, layouts, and floor counts.[1]
The issue showed the Village Stone 2-Story Basement, Village Stone & Timber Split-Level 5-Story Basement, and City Stone Arena Basement. It also assigned stone-basement rewards across the Citizen through Lord of the Manor pledge tiers.[1]

Druid home and housing rewards
The Druid home grew from a tree-house concept seen in the RTX demonstration. Its two-story town-lot design combined an overgrown stone structure with a massive tree, an external spiral ramp, and an upper deck. The update followed its modeling and material work before announcing it as a store offering.[1]

Portalarium also announced that Edelmann and higher pledge tiers would receive the homes from lower qualifying tiers, allowing owners to swap among those houses on their property.[1]
