RELEASE 140, July 28, 2025
Release 140 went live on July 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. CDT. Although the announcement looked ahead to a month of lava-themed dungeon development, the launch build itself was a practical mixture of housing optimization, world repairs, loot adjustments, and dungeon-building improvements. Row houses and the Pirate Galleon Town Home received substantial asset work, many long-standing stuck spots were closed, and dungeon builders gained a transition between ordinary stone and volcanic stone.[1]
The official launch notes contain 40 entries across crafting, interface, world, quest, town, dungeon, and basement work. This is a count of published entries, not individual fixes; several entries bundle multiple objects or scenes together.[1]

Homes rebuilt behind the plaster
R140 continued a technical cleanup of the Wood and Plaster and Shingled row houses. The work included rebuilt levels of detail, optimized and corrected textures, and many mesh repairs. Roughly seventy textures were optimized across affected assets, including row houses and Pirate Galleons, to reduce their disk footprint while improving clarity.[1]
Several row-house windows regained transparency. The fireplace in the four-story Wood and Plaster Rowhouse stopped glowing while unlit, and its interior light and visual-effect distances were better aligned with the LOD system. Door collision was changed to discourage NPCs from walking through the player's house.[1]
The Pirate Galleon Town Home received a rebuilt navigation mesh and hull gate, optimized textures, and improved distance appearance. The Shogun 5-Story Palace City Home also became more convincing at a distance. Small hearth fires and player-placeable campfires received material improvements, although the announcement noted that further work remained.[1]
Rain collision was restored to large wooden and snowy awnings and to player-owned kobold gazebos. Craftable and fancy sign symbols had their texture-atlas alignment corrected to prevent neighboring symbols from bleeding into one another, while decorative polearm signs lost an unnecessary sound controller.[1]
A bridge between dungeon styles

Booksellers everywhere gained the recipe and blueprint for a transition hallway joining standard dungeon stone to volcanic stone. This gave builders a deliberate visual bridge between the two construction sets instead of an abrupt seam.[1]
Lunar-rift dungeon entrances had their sound effects returned to the portals after the emitters had drifted away. Ancient Stone Hallway pieces received corrected level-of-detail behavior.[1]

The release announcement also introduced a Volcanic Stone Dungeon Hallways Pack in the Crown Store. Its screenshots and the broader “Lava Month” discussion previewed additional volcanic rooms intended to arrive during R140.[1] The enormous lava room shown as work in progress was not part of the July 28 launch build and is not counted among the shipped features here.
Scene repairs across New Britannia
R140 repaired stuck spots in Blackblade Foothills, Blood River Outskirts, Kas Ruins, Lamech's Bazaar, Lost Whiteguard Silver Mine, Midras Ruins, Middle Downs, Rhun Ruins, Serpent Spine Mines, Shaminian Hills, South Midmaer Way, Sunless Barrens, Upper Fortus, and other locations. The fixes ranged from moving stalagmites and crates to adding dirt, rocks, or rubble where terrain could trap an Avatar.[1]
Several shared assets were corrected at the same time. Lunar-rift sound effects were reset across multiple scenes, an inaccessible practice-dummy mesh that caused scene-loading errors was fixed, and textures were restored to invisible tubs used for world building. A ruined-wall piece and kobold gazebos also received collision fixes first identified in Oracle Colossus and Upper Fortus.[1]
Necropolis Barrens moved wolf spawns farther from the default entrance and reduced the wolves' awareness. Shaminian Hills removed redundant LOD references from two puzzle-area ruin prefabs.[1] The result was not a new adventure zone, but a quieter kind of improvement: fewer accidental traps and fewer technical distractions in existing ones.
Castle Atos and Vikland
Castle Atos corrected the town crier's responses so he consistently explained that he could bind players to the zone. Harlyn the Housing Merchant became willing to share their name, and both Harlyn and the banker moved closer to their counters.[1]
Vikland Crystals became easier to find through a wider range of sources. Their drop chances were added or increased for humanoids, undead, and imps, as well as pre-killed elf and guard bodies, treasure chests, and small bags sometimes found around Virtue monoliths, camps, and bunkers.[1]
The player-owned town Arx Draconis Wetlands was upgraded to Crossroads Village.[1]
Interface, rewards, and release events
The Beach Blanket Pack received a revised store name to distinguish it from later additions. This was R140's sole entry in the interface and store-information section of the launch notes.[1]

Subscribers logging in during R140 received a Longfall Lounger, four Beach Towels with new patterns, and a choose-one bag containing a clean, mossy, or snow-covered Small Wooden Awning. Every account logging in during August received a Beach Ball.[1]
The post-release community livestream was scheduled for August 2. A fifth-anniversary Bug Brigade party was announced for August 16 at the group's houseboat in Brekken Bay. The release announcement also documented a July 28–August 8 sale window.[1] These dates are historical and do not indicate current event or store availability.
