Add-ons/Toolbox/Crafting planner

From Shroud of the Avatar Wiki - SotA

The Crafting planner, introduced in Toolbox 1.9.0, turns a known recipe and desired quantity into a live shopping list and build order. It reads supported recipe and inventory information; it never crafts items or moves materials for the player.[1]

Starting a plan

Open the planner from the menu's hammer button, Settings → Crafting, or /toolbox plan. Supplying part of a recipe name, such as /toolbox plan plate chest, searches for it directly.

  1. Type part of the desired recipe's name and select a match.
  2. Set the number of crafts.
  3. For an ingredient slot that accepts alternative materials, select the material to use. The planner initially favors the first choice for which enough material is available and remembers a manual choice for that recipe.
  4. Review the result, required ingredients, current inventory counts, and shortages.

The result line combines the item's base statistics with the selected materials. Exceptional crafts are represented using their larger material contribution. Reset returns to no selected recipe, one craft, and automatic material choices without discarding the already read recipe book.[1]

Planning from scratch

Mark I'll craft beside an eligible shortage to expand its own ingredients beneath it. This may continue through multiple prerequisite levels. In version 1.10.0 the choice is always available for craftable shortages; the former From scratch switch was removed.

When more than one recipe makes the same component, the planner normally prefers the recipe named like the component; use made by to choose another. Ingredients that will not be crafted are combined in the shopping list. The build order groups crafts by station and places prerequisite materials before the items that consume them.[1]

Recipe discovery and client compatibility

On clients with Lua API 55 or later, Toolbox uses the game's recipe-output API directly. Version 1.10.0 therefore removes the former recipe-book scan, progress display, scan settings, and /toolbox plan book commands. On older clients, the planner can discover only recipes whose name matches their output item.[1]

Market estimates

When optional SotANET estimates and Internet permission are enabled, the planner can display 90-day average prices for ingredients, estimated material cost, estimated sale value, and estimated profit. The shopping list can show item prices as well. Toolbox sends item names to shroudoftheavatar.net; estimates are historical market data, not guaranteed purchase or sale prices.[1]

Views and progress

Show switches among:

  • Shopping list — everything still needed from gathering, storage, or another source, combined by item;
  • Plan — the selected craft, materials, and expanded prerequisite choices;
  • Build order — crafts grouped by station with prerequisite work first.

Inventory changes are checked every few seconds. Build steps are marked as their crafts complete, including items currently on the crafting table. Plans and material selections are stored per character. The planner shares a window with Toolbox's Docs and Map overlays, so opening one closes the other.[1]

Crafting Planner HUD

Use the button at the bottom of the planner or /toolbox plan hud to open a compact progress strip. It begins with the shopping list and moves to the build order when everything has been gathered. Its button switches views manually when crafting from lot containers makes carried-item counts less useful.

Completed build steps remain checked even when their components are consumed by later crafts. Start over prepares the same batch again. Completing the plan plays the configurable Crafting plan done sound and, by default, closes the HUD after 30 seconds.

Settings and commands control its starting view, automatic transition, close delay, background shade, and position. Relevant forms include /toolbox plan hud start shop|build, auto on|off, close <seconds>, and shade <0-90>.[1]
