Adventure Level

From Shroud of the Avatar Wiki - SotA

Adventure Level is a character progression value derived from adventuring experience invested in skills. It provides a broad indication of an Avatar's overall adventuring progress, while individual skill levels describe what that character can actually do.

Adventure Level is used by a number of game systems. Examples documented in release notes include scaling for some consumables and artifacts, access to the high-level Vigor system, and level caps in certain scenes.[1][2]

This article needs verification. (Specific reason: Confirm the current Adventure Level calculation, where the value is displayed in the current client, and which combat formulas still use it. Older explanations describe additional effects that may since have changed.)

See the talk page for details.

Relationship to skills

Adventure Level is not a replacement for individual skill levels. Spending Adventure Experience to train adventuring skills raises those skills and contributes to overall adventuring progression. Characters with a similar Adventure Level can therefore have very different capabilities, depending on where they invested their experience.

Production Level is the corresponding progression value for crafting and production activities.

Uses

Adventure Level has been used for:

  • scaling the effects of some potions and equipment bonuses;[1]
  • determining whether a character is affected by systems with level thresholds, such as Vigor;
  • enforcing Adventure Level caps in designated scenes;[2]
  • communicating a rough measure of a character's overall adventuring progression.

Because systems and formulas change over time, the tooltip or description for a particular item, scene, or effect is the better source for its current rules.
