Catalog status: loctest was no longer listed in the Community Addons catalog when checked on October 21, 2026. This page is retained for people who already have the package and as historical documentation; new installations are not currently available through /addons.

loctest is a small player-created Lua add-on that displays the player's current coordinates and, when one exists, the position of the active map beacon. Its movable readout initially appears near the lower-left corner of the screen.[1]

Getting started

  1. If loctest is already installed, enable Run under /addons.
  2. Drag the location display to a convenient position.
  3. Set or clear a map beacon to change the beacon portion of the readout.

loctest has no dependencies and requests no Internet permission. Its catalog description says that it does not interact with chat or other players. The catalog does not list an author, support page, settings interface, or bundled README.[1]

Reading the display

The first line begins with the client's current Lua API version followed by ShroudGetLocationText(), the game's formatted current location. The second line says no beacon or gives the active beacon's name and formatted X, Y, and Z coordinates.[2]

The beacon is the game's single shared map beacon. Setting one through the game or another add-on changes the display; clearing or arriving at it returns the second line to no beacon. loctest does not create, clear, or navigate to a beacon.

Movement and troubleshooting

The native HUD frame remembers where it is dragged. It has no command, configuration window, visibility switch, or reset button in version 1.0.0. If its grip cannot be moved, clear the game's status-bar movement lock. If the frame is missing, confirm Run under /addons, use /lua check, and use /lua reload after changing a manual installation.

Because the package is explicitly described as a test, supplies no support URL, and is no longer catalog-listed, it should not be presented as a maintained navigation tool.
