A bleed effect is a melee physical attack that punctures, tears, or cuts in a manner that results in bleeding over time (in other words, it inflicts a physical damage-over-time from continued bleeding). Poison damage-over-time and Magical damage-over-time (such as fire damage) are not considered bleed effects.

Some creatures have an attack that can inflict a Bleed Effect on the Avatar.

Bleed Effects do zero damage to Undead.

Avatar Skills that Cancel a Bleed Effect

The skills below will cancel the damage-over-time effect, but will not cancel any non-damage debuff that was applied with the Bleed Effect. For example, rend will apply a damage-over-time and a Healing Modifier debuff, but the skills below will remove only the damage-over-time, and not the Healing Modifier debuff.

Note: Skills that do not remove a bleed effect include: Purify, Purify Burst, Douse.
