A socket is a hollow area into which you can place a jewel or gem. A socketed item has a jewel or gem permanently fixed into the hollow area. The Avatar can socket equipment using the appropriate socketing recipe at the Alchemy Station. The gem or jewel applies additional effects to the socketed item.
