More actions
Purpose
This license template records the description, source, author, notes, and optional image collections for media released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license. Place it on the media's File page only when that license has been established by the source.
Usage
{{CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 image
|description=
|source=
|author=
|collection=
|notes=
}}
Parameters
| Parameter | Required | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
description
|
Recommended | Description of what the file shows. The value is displayed and stored in both Has description and Has caption. If omitted, the template displays a request to add a description.
|
source
|
Required for a complete record | Original source of the media and, where available, the page establishing its license. If omitted, the template displays a request to add a source. |
author
|
Required for attribution | Creator or credited author. If omitted, the template displays a request to add an author. |
collection
|
No | One or more image-collection names. Separate multiple values with semicolons. Each value is converted to lowercase and stored in Has image collection for collection galleries.
|
notes
|
No | Additional licensing, attribution, or provenance information. The Notes row appears only when this parameter has a value. |
Collection behavior
The collection parameter connects a file to pages using Template:Gallery. Use stable subject names rather than descriptive prose.
{{CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 image
|description=Map of an example scene
|source=Original publication and license URL
|author=Creator name
|collection=Example scene;Maps
|notes=Additional attribution details
}}
Licensing note
Do not apply this template merely because a file is publicly accessible. Confirm that the copyright holder released the work under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0, preserve the source and attribution, and note any relevant modifications. The template identifies the recorded license; it does not independently verify permission.
The example is not rendered here because doing so would assign description and collection properties to the documentation page.
