The Wronged Peasant
transcribed by Ravicus
published in the Year 401 After the Cataclysm
Fragment from a 12,110-line poem entitled "The Wronged Peasant"
(circa 800 Years before the Cataclysm)
- Justice you say? I scoff at the word!
Fed by the hand to some royal bird.
Pence delivered for voice,
Rich dance and rejoice,
At lies from the fed cat purred.
Compassion you say? It tempers the truth?
How does this counter the needful uncouth?
Professor of words —
Coin'd tonguèd words slurred —
Greed trumps e'en the most adept sleuth.
