How to Mine

In order to mine, the following criteria must be met:

  • Have the Mining Proficiency skill learned.
  • Have a Pickaxe equipped (for instructions on how to equip a pickaxe, see Tools.)
  • The pickaxe must have more than zero durability (i.e. it cannot be broken).

To mine, double left-click on a relevant Resource Node.

Optimizing Experience Point Yield From Mining

There are 2 main ways to optimize the Experience Point (XP) yield when mining:

  • Maximimize your mining speed (see above) - the more nodes you mine in a given time, the more XP you will gain.
  • Maximize your (see above) - the more Meticulous Collections you get per node, the more XP you will gain.
  • Mine in a zone where the Experience Awarded for mining is high (see below).

The zones with the highest XP for mining nodes are listed below:

Adventure Zone Node Type XP for Initial Gather XP per Meticulous Gather
Tanglemire Iron Ore 15,000 10,000
Tanglemire Copper Ore 15,000 10,000
Tartarus Iron Ore 15,000 10,000
Tartarus Gold Ore 15,000 10,000
Tartarus Silver Ore 15,000 10,000
Vikland Copper Ore 12,500 10,000
Vikland Silver Ore 5,000 5,000

XP = Experience Points; The XP for the initial gather is awarded only to the Producer Experience pool, whereas the XP for each Meticulous gather is added to both the Producer Experience pool and to the Adventurer Experience pool.

Note: In some zones, there may be nodes of the same type that offer different amount of XP. For example, in the plains encounter there are some gold ore nodes that give 400 XP and some gold nodes that give 5,000 XP. In other words, mining nodes within the same zone may give different amounts of XP, even if they are the same type of node.
