Mining

Mining is the gathering of mineral Resource Nodes, including

• Ore (Copper Ore, Gold Ore, Iron Ore, Silver Ore)
• Deposits (Ash Deposit, Brimstone, Clay Deposit, Coal, Granite Deposit, Salt Deposit)
• Crystals (Aldurite Crystal, Amethyst Crystal, Citrine Crystal, Diamond Crystal, Emerald Crystal, Garnet Crystal, Onyx Crystal, Quartz Crystal, Ruby Crystal, Sapphire Crystal)

How to Mine

In order to mine, the following criteria must be met:

• Have the Mining Proficiency skill learned.
• Have a Pickaxe equipped (for instructions on how to equip a pickaxe, see Tools.)
• The equipped pickaxe must have more than zero Durability (i.e. it cannot be broken).

To mine, double left-click on a relevant Resource Node.

Optimizing Mining Success, Yield, and Speed

• Choose the best Pickaxe for your needs - in general, the best pickaxe for mining is the Pickaxe of Prosperity because it offers the highest bonuses of all the pickaxes and never requires repair (it is indestructible).
• Increase your Mining Proficiency skill - this increases your change of successfully mining a node, and the chance of a very rapid (critical) gather will occur.
• Increase Mining Gathering Time Bonus - this makes your non-critical mining speed faster.

  • Obsidian Potion of Expedience
  • Gauntlets of Lead
  • Equip one of the following pickaxes
    • Pickaxe of Prosperity
    • Pickaxe with True Bronze Engravings
    • Artisan Pickaxe
    • Founder Artisan's Pickaxe
• Increase Your Mining Meticulous Collection Chance - this increases the mineral yield from the node and increases the Experience Points given for mining the node.
  • Increase your Meticulous Collection - Mining skill
  • 25 Year Whiskey
  • Obsidian Potion of Precision
  • Equip a necklace socketted with an Imbued Jewel of the Meticulous Miner
  • Equip 2 rings, one or both of the following types:
    • Rings socketted with an Imbued Jewel of the Meticulous Miner (this ring provides the same meticulous bonus as an Epic Ring of an Unknown BMC Member)
    • The Ring of an Unknown BMC Member (ideally epic level)
  • Equip one of the following pickaxes
    • Pickaxe of Prosperity
    • Pickaxe with Heavy Iron Engravings (note: this axe slows mining speed)
    • Artisan Pickaxe
    • Founder Artisan's Pickaxe

Optimizing Experience Point Yield From Mining

There are 3 main ways to optimize the Experience Points (XP) yield when mining:

• Maximize your mining speed - the more nodes you mine in a given time, the more XP you will gain.
  • Increase your Mining Gathering Time Bonus (see above) - reduces the time required to mine a node.
  • Increase your Move Rate and Move Speed - reduces the time required for moving from node to node.
• Maximize your Mining Meticulous Collection Chance (see above) - the more Meticulous Collections you get per node, the more XP you will gain.
• Mine in a zone where the Experience Points awarded for mining is high (see below).

XP = Experience Points; The XP for the initial gather is awarded only to the Producer Experience pool, whereas the XP for each Meticulous gather is added to both the Producer Experience pool and to the Adventurer Experience pool.

Note: In some zones, there may be nodes of the same type that offer different amount of XP. For example, in the plains encounter there are some gold ore nodes that give 400 XP and some gold nodes that give 5,000 XP. In other words, mining nodes within the same zone may give different amounts of XP, even if they are the same type of node.
