Tool Needed for Mining[edit]

A pickaxe must be equipped in order to mine.
See Pickaxe for a list of the pickaxe variations and their buffs/debuffs.
See Tools for how to equip a pickaxe.

How to Mine[edit]

In order to mine, the following criteria must be met:

  • Have the Mining Proficiency skill learned.
  • Have a Pickaxe equipped (for instructions on how to equip a pickaxe, see Tools.)
  • The equipped pickaxe must have more than zero Durability (i.e. it cannot be broken).

To mine, place the mouse cursor over a relevant Resource Node. The mouse cursor will change into a pickaxe to let you know that you can mine the node, then double left-click on the node or press the "E" key.

Optimizing Mining Success, Yield, and Speed[edit]

Optimizing Experience Point Yield From Mining[edit]

There are 3 main ways to optimize the Experience Points (XP) yield when mining:

  • Maximize your mining speed - the more nodes you mine in a given time, the more XP you will gain.
  • Maximize your Mining Meticulous Collection Chance (see above) - the more Meticulous Collections you get per node, the more XP you will gain. Also, each meticulous collection adds XP to both the Producer Experience pool and to the Adventurer Experience pool.
  • Mine only ore nodes - ore nodes tend to give far more XP than deposit nodes or crystal nodes.
  • Mine in a zone where the Experience Points awarded for mining ore is high (see below).

The zones listed below have the highest XP for mining nodes and have a reasonable number of nodes. For Tartarus, the caves next to the maze have more nodes (and are located closer together) than the maze.

Adventure Zone Node Type XP for Initial Gather XP per Meticulous Gather
Tanglemire Iron Ore 15,000 10,000
Copper Ore
Vikland Copper Ore 12,500 10,000
Silver Ore 12,500   5,000
Tartarus Iron Ore 10,000 10,000
Copper Ore
Gold Ore
Silver Ore

XP = Experience Points; The XP for the initial gather is awarded only to the Producer Experience pool, whereas the XP for each Meticulous gather is added to both the Producer Experience pool and to the Adventurer Experience pool.

Note: In some zones, there may be nodes of the same type that offer different amount of XP. For example, in the plains encounter there are some gold ore nodes that give 400 XP and some gold nodes that give 5,000 XP. In other words, mining nodes within the same zone may give different amounts of XP, even if they are the same type of node.
