Hamstring is a blade attack that slows and inflicts a damage over time effect on the target, and gives a short duration dexterity buff to the attacker.

The damage-over-time inflicted by this skill is considered to be a Bleed Effect. For methods to cancel a bleed effect, see Bleed Effect.

This skill is a Combination Skill in which Rend and Trip are combined to create Hamstring.

The level of your Hamstring skill is the average of the levels for Rend and Trip.

A Hamstring attack causes the following effects:

  • Physical damage over time to opponent - it applies a Bleed Effect called "Hamstring", which is similar to Rend. The higher your Hamstring skill level, the higher the damage and the longer the duration. Higher strength also increases the damage. Having an Imbued Gem of Rending equipped also appears to increase the damage. Ultimately this skill (whether stacked or not) will deliver comparable damage as a single stack of rend, but will deliver far less damage than a stacked rend.
  • Decreased Move Rate to opponent - The higher your Hamstring skill level, the higher the movement rate debuff and the longer the duration.
  • Increased Dexterity to caster for 15 seconds (the duration of this effect is constant, and not influenced by skill levels or specializations)

The usefulness of Hamstring is limited for the following reasons:

  • A stacked Rend will do far more damage, will apply a healing modifier debuff to the opponent, and will last longer.
  • The duration of Hamstring's effects is very short.
  • A single stack Ice Field of level 100 provides a greater move rate debuff for a longer duration compared to a level 100 Hamstring.

Here are some examples of the effects at various skill levels (your damage may differ depending your type of sword, your strength, and whether you have an Imbued Gem of Rending equipped).

Hamstring Level 105 (Rend 170, Trip 40)
14-24 Physical damage every 1.1 seconds for 15.2 seconds
-21 Move rate for 28 seconds
+15 Dexterity for 15 seconds
Hamstring Level 135 (Rend 170, Trip 100)
15-25 Physical damage every 1.1 seconds for 18.4 seconds
-27 Move rate for 34 seconds
+15 Dexterity for 15 seconds

Stacking this skill will increase the damage, the move rate debuff, and the dexterity buff (but it will not change the duration for which these effects last). If you have either Subterfuge Specialization or Blade Specialization, the maximum number of stacks for this skill will be 6. If you have neither specialization, the maximum number of stacks for this skill will be 5.

Trivia[edit]

  • First introduced during Release 9. This DoT ticks in addition to the Rend DoT.
  • To execute this skill you use the combo modifier (Default, 'R' key) or drag and drop Rend on top of Trip.
