Outdated Recipes
I see a lot of people talking about the recipes on the wiki not working anymore. I also run into the problem of not knowing which recipes I should even try to make anymore because I don't know what is old information, how old it is or if anyone has checked on it already this release. SotAWiki:RecipeCheck hasn't been working. Partially because I haven't been updating it every release, partially because we don't get through all the recipes every release, and partially because people don't know it exists. It also doesn't give anyone any idea on the recipes itself.
I have a proposed solution though: display it on the crafting box. Specifically display the release number. For example; {{Crafting Box <snip> |lastseen=11 |removed=14 }}
'Lastseen' is the release it was last seen in. It is what we would be updating every release. It would be displayed in the crafting box informing people that it may be an old recipe and (maybe) inspiring them to update it if they do try it out. 'Removed' is the release it was tried in and discovered to no longer be working. Then we could display a warning to the user that this recipe no longer works and not just leave it sitting there hoping someone finds the updated version.
I could then run queries for recipes that haven't been checked recently to hopefully focus some work on them. And I could also run queries on recipes that have been removed for awhile and then we can delete them. -- Fenyx4 (talk) 01:52, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
