There are a few ways to setup your skills:

Unlock all the skills your going to use and let them increase naturally but slowly.
Unlock the base skills first and let them increase quickly.
Unlock the base skills and one other skill.
Unlock the base skills and a few other skills.

The fewer skills you have unlocked the quicker they increase.
The more skills you have unlocked the slower they increase.
This happens because they feed off your Pooled Adventurer Exp.

If your Pooled Adventurer Exp is increasing nicely you have the right amount of skills unlocked.
If your Pooled Adventurer Exp is not increasing at all you have too many skills unlocked.

Base Skills

These are your base skills and should never be locked.

• Healthy
• Heightened Awareness
• Train Strength
• Train Dexterity
• Train Intelligence

Combat Skills - Blades

Passive Skills:

• Bladed Combat - Base bladed combat skill.
• Blade Speed - Increases attack speed bonus with blades.
• Vital Points - Increases critical chance with blades.
• Blade Mastery - Increases damage with blades.

Active Skills:

• Thrust - Powerful melee attack.
• Double Slash - Two quick melee attack.
• Riposte - Attack that increases defense value for next hit on caster.
• Rend - Attack that inflicts a damage over time effect on the target.
• Whirling Blades - Attack that hits multiple targets around the caster.
• Coup De Grace - Attack that does double damage if target is below 20% health.

You have a few options here, the choice is yours:

• Unlock Bladed Combat and level only that skill to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Bladed Combat, Blade Speed and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Bladed Combat, Blade Speed, Thrust, Double Slash and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock all skills here, and level those skills naturally.

Combat Skills - Bludgeon

You have a few options here, the choice is yours:

• Unlock Bludgeon Combat and level only that skill to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Bludgeon Combat, Stunner and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Bludgeon Combat, Stunner, Crushing Blow, Break Weapon and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock all skills here, and level those skills naturally.

Combat Skills - Heavy Armor

You have a few options here, the choice is yours:

• Unlock Glancing Blow, Deflection and level only Deflection to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Glancing Blow, Deflection and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Glancing Blow, Deflection, Body Slam, Inner Strength and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock all skills here, and level those skills naturally.

Combat Skills - Light Armor

You have a few options here, the choice is yours:

• Unlock Dodge, Swiftness and level only Swiftness to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Dodge, Swiftness and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Dodge, Swiftness, Evasion, Escape and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock all skills here, and level those skills naturally.

Combat Skills - Polearms

You have a few options here, the choice is yours:

• Unlock Polearm Combat and level only that skill to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Polearm Combat, Reach and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Polearm Combat, Reach, Push, Puncture and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock all skills here, and level those skills naturally.

Combat Skills - Ranged

You have a few options here, the choice is yours:

• Unlock Ranged Combat and level only that skill to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Ranged Combat, Ammo Scavenger and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock Ranged Combat, Ammo Scavenger, Aimed Shot, Disabling Shot and level those skills to 100, before unlocking more skills here.
• Unlock all skills here, and level those skills naturally.
