| One of the most unique experiences in Shroud of the Avatar that you will not find in other MORPGs on the market today is the NPC and Questing experience. What you can expect to experience is way more immersive and personal than the average RPG found today. The game will react to you and change based on how you play. You also will talk through finding your quests instead of having an alert with a predetermined script to follow with yes/no answers.
| | Quests in Shroud of the Avatar can be started in many different ways. For example: Overhearing a woman sobbing[1], you happen to find a very strange Mystical Looking-Glass[2], you find a report on a dead body[3] or the good old fashioned way, speaking to a NPC. |

| Run of the mill RPG Quest Example: Bandits are attacking a mine. Go clear them out for 50 gold!
| | Once you receive a Quest, you will see a Task added to your screen that will also have a short description when you move your mouse over the Task and then a matching Journal Entry in your Journal, with more information related to the current quest. |

| *SotA Example 1: You walk into a town and overhear someone talking about their cousin's mine being overrun with bandits. You go up and talk to them (yes, that's right, you chat in text with an NPC) and they refuse to tell you anything because they heard you ripped someone off three weeks ago in another village. Their friend overhears the conversation and offers you a way to make right by fetching an ingredient that is hard to come by in this area in the world. You jot that down and continue on your quests to maybe return two or three weeks later with the ingredient. After that the bandits may already have cleared the mine but your new found friend offers you a permanent access to their cousin's mine for when you need to gather resources.

| *SotA Example 2: You walk into a town and overhear someone talking about their cousin's mine being overrun with bandits. You go up and talk to them (yes, that's right, you chat in text with an NPC) and they notice you are the hero who saved their neighbors kid the prior week from a wild boar. They offer you the location of their cousin and you go and find him already injured. After healing him and preparing for battle you clear out the bandits and gain their PHAT LOOTS as well as the cousin provides you friendly access to use his mine in the future.
