Basically, you stand in front of the symbol that represents the [[Patron City]] that you are interested (the symbol be within its own sector of the moondial), then face the planet in the center of the moondial. If there is a moon in the sector of the symbol, then the [[Patron City]] associated with that symbol will be under siege by the cabalist represented by the moon. You can can halve multiple moons within a sector; therefore, a city canbe under seige by multiple cabalaists.

Also, you can click on the moondial, which will cause it to swirl. A few seconds after it is done swirling, you can look into the sky (if its not cloudy), and see the constellations highlighted and each constellation's zone delineated. If you would rather look at the sky to determine which cities are under siege, this makes it much easier to see if a moon is in the sector of a constellation/symbol.

Template:Infobox Item Moondial is a decoration item crafted with the Alchemy skill.

Note: When a Moondial is placed in a Dungeon or Basement, the heavenly body positions in relation to the constellations will not be accurate.

How to Use A Moondial

From the Developer Notes: One then uses the Moondial by merely standing beside the Moondial facing the planet at its center, visually aligning yourself with the constellation representing a Devotional within the town you’re interested in, and seeing which moons fall within that sector slice that angles in from the sector edges on either side of the constellation toward the center of the world… The Cabalists representing the antivirtues of those moons should be attacking any city bearing that particular Devotional at that time… In the example you can see that towns hosting a Devotional of Honor are being currently attacked by Avara while Dolus prepares to withdraw his minions, and Nefas is readying his forces in vicious support that is soon to come![1]

Basically, you stand in front of the symbol that represents the Patron City that you are interested in (the symbol is within its own sector of the moondial), then face the planet in the center of the moondial. If there is a moon visible in the sector of the symbol, then the Patron City associated with that symbol will be under siege by the cabalist represented by the moon. You can can halve multiple moons within a sector; therefore, a city can be under siege by multiple cabalists.

Also, you can click on the moondial, which will cause it to swirl. A few seconds after it is done swirling, the constellations in the sky will be highlighted and each constellation's zone will be delineated (although this may only be visible when there are no clouds and when the sky is dark enough). If you would rather look at the sky to determine which cities are under siege, this makes it much easier to see if a moon is in the sector of a constellation/symbol.
