Melee Damage Reflection is a effect that is found on various items. If your avatar takes melee damage, a portion of that damage is inflicted on you attacker. Not that this effect only applied to melee damage; therefore, any damage you sustain from ranged attacks will not be reflected onto your opponent.

Here is an example from the combat logs. The Avatar was wearing a full set of Obsidian Plate Armor, which will provide a total of 20% Melee Damage Reduction. In the combat logs, the damage reflected onto your opponent is list first, followed by the damage done to you.

  • [9:37 AM] Obsidian Bear takes 10 points of damage.
  • [9:37 AM] Obsidian Bear attacks Avatar and hits, dealing 52 points of critical damage.

So, the bear inflicted 52 points of damage upon me, and the 20% Melee Damage Reflection resulted in 10 damage to the Obsidian Bear (52 x 0.2 = 10.4, which is rounded to nearest integer of 10).

The minimum amount of damage that can be reflected is 1.

So, if I have a Melee Damage Reflection of 20%, and I sustain 3 points of damage, the damaged reflected onto my opponent will be 1 (3 x 0.2 = 0.6, which is adjusted to 1 because the minimum reflected damage is 1). This can be seen in the combat chat logs below:

  • [9:36 AM] Obsidian Bear takes 1 point of damage.
  • [9:36 AM] Obsidian Bear attacks Avatar and hits, dealing 3 points of glancing damage due to armor.
