Upon the western branch of the Jaana River was beautiful city of Opalis, enclosed by a curtain wall thirty feet high. Outside the wall, numerous smaller buildings and tents make up the settlement of Brambletown. Stone turrets in the wall raise into beautiful, slender towers. Buildings within were spires and domes of polished brass. Causeways led up to the city, which provide protection to defenders and hamper assaults.

Within the city, the Citadel of Opalis and the Athenaeum stand as wonders from before the Cataclysm. Broad avenues wind through the city, curving around the Citadel and the open market. Despite their size, shops must loft ornate signs high above their doors, as the sheer population would block anything lower. The open market surrounds a great fountain that forms the central supply of water to the city.

Template:Spoiler Upon the western branch of the Jaana River was beautiful city of Opalis, enclosed by a curtain wall thirty feet high. Outside the wall, numerous smaller buildings and tents make up the settlement of Brambletown. Stone turrets in the wall raise into beautiful, slender towers. Buildings within were spires and domes of polished brass. Causeways led up to the city, which provide protection to defenders and hamper assaults.

Three paths lead into the city. The Storm Gate guards the road to the Bay of Storms, the Fields Gate accesses farmland to the southwest, and North Gate, which is the largest of the three, guards its road connecting Opalis with Resolute, in the mountains far to north, and Willowvale, which lies across the Pillars of Night to the northwest. Each gate has two sets of double gates in the twenty-foot wide tunnel, each two-foot thick and bound in steel, separated by a narrow stone tunnel. The defensive walls are named similarly, with Westwall stretching between the North Gate and the Fields Gate, Long Wall from the Fields Gate to the Storm Gate, and Southwall between the Storm Gate and the North Gate.
