All spells are cast by invoking words of power. These words have to be spoken when activating the spell, in order to power of the forces being utilized. The correct combination of the syllables, combined with the proper reagents, is what defines the spell. Following are the known words of power, and their meanings.
There are 26 syllables, in pseudo Latin, and will be echoed by players when cast. Tier 1 spells have one syllable, Tier 2 spells have two syllables, and Tier 3 spells have three syllables. For example, Healing Touch is Reno, Healing Ray is Asen Reno, and Healing Burst is Motus Reno Zephyr
Trivia
- Spells in the Ultima series have always used words of power. In Ultima I and Ultima III, these invocations were Latin-like, however since Ultima IV the words of power were standardized and codified.
- The first Words of Power were revealed during the Postmortem for Release 19.
- The remainder of the Words of Power were revealed during the Postmortem for Release 26.
