She has crippled legs that make it incredibly painful, if not impossible to stand for more than a minute, but her long delicate fingers are amazingly adept at embroidery which is much favored by the local baroness. She is cared for by Sarah.
In Blade of the Avatar it is learned that Amanda was once captured by the Obsidians when her family was traveling through Midmaer, and then subjected her to the mutation magic of the sorcerers. Experiments both failed and successful left her with shriveled and misshapen legs, long and delicate fingers, and pointed ears, along with fragmented memories of what had been done to her.
Amanda has a strong relationship with her sister Syenna, and it is implied to be the motivation for Syenna's work on behalf of the Council of Might.
