Greetings Fellow Avatars!

Release 107 goes live October 28th at 10:30 AM CDT.

Welcome! The Catnip Games development team marks this monthly release of Shroud of the Avatar with new content and improvements. For Release 107 (R107), Vikland is open to Outlander visitors!

For those wishing to participate in any community activities, upcoming one-time and recurring community events have been announced! Be sure to also review the Player Guide and Known Issues for additional information on recent changes and upcoming fixes.

Visit Vikland!

The west coast of Slangemagge hosts the small barbarian village of Vikland. This beautiful tier-8+ shore with outlying islands, at the edge of a lush tropical forest, is a lovely area for a day trip for Outlanders with Episode 2 access!

The village proper hosts a community known for sailing to and trading with local settlements along the coast and across the Drullasund. They (and their war bears) do seem to get the better end of these deals! These earthy people are known for their colorful decor and some saber-toothed tiger trophies have been spotted gracing their walls; perhaps these fearsome beasts can be found nearby! The village does not have significant facilities for guests, but they can act as a base camp and supply you with a good picnic to carry to the long beaches and scenic outcroppings in the area.

Visitors with an archaeological bent may be interested to know that centuries ago, the forces of the Obsidian Eye established an outpost in the area. It was eventually abandoned and lost to history, but remnants can still be found north of the village and inland.

Release 107 Patch Notes

Below are a list of the updates that are live as of Release 107 in the game of Shroud of the Avatar! R107 is a content month. Polish, additional improvements, and bug fixes are inbound for R108 next month. We hope you enjoy the changes that are live today as of Release 107!

Crafting, Decoration, & Inventory Item Changes:

Created Extra Life 2022 Community Cloak. SOTA-70865 Created Bug Brigade anniversary reward gift. SOTA-70832 Adjusted name for Bug Brigade 2022 Cloak on item and pattern. SOTA-70828 Fixed display names for Snowy Owl and Baby Black Widow Spider decoration pets. SOTA-70826 Fixed issue with Jack O’ Lantern recipe names being out of sync with results. SOTA-70738 Fixed issue with wood block recipe names being out of sync with results. SOTA-70737 Removed errant dyeable flags from some lepus masks. SOTA-70794

User Interface, Store Information, & Lua Changes:

Corrected the name of the Cat Ears store entry. Updated Broadcast Automated Phonograph store entry to eliminate a duplicated sentence. SOTA-70823

World and Quest Changes:

With the departure of the comet, the aether creatures have gone into hibernation. SOTA-69062 Devotional Shrines: Fixed a typo in the “Visit Devotional Shrines” journal entry. SOTA-70838 Public Vendors: Corrected a dialog typo regarding purchase orders. SOTA-70820 Random Encounters: Fixed a typo in the “Ecology Survey” responses. Vikland, Ulfheim, and Spindelskog: Added runic monoliths. Once a day, a player can offer a runestone and have one of their virtues affected slightly. SOTA-70830 Redmill and similar PRTs: Moved a streetlight away from the butcher table. Ardoris: Fixed a typo in Fiona FitzOwen’s “help” response. SOTA-70835 Blood River Massacre: Removed grass that was growing through the floor of a house. SOTA-70843 Blood River Massacre: Updated the “Exit the Village” journal hint to refer to the “Blood River Main Gate” instead of the southern gate. SOTA-70840 Central Brittany: Fixed a section of the castle wall that appeared to be floating. SOTA-70859 Crag Foothills: Corrected the size of ore nodes. Fixed one that wasn’t interactable. SOTA-70842 East Longfall Wetlands: Added an ankh within a shack. SOTA-70861 Etceter Crag Mines: Fixed an issue where the avatar couldn’t continue in the Black Iron Ore quest if they exited the bandit leader’s conversation prematurely. SOTA-70824 Grusk: Fixed several sturdy vine/root ladders to better allow climbing. SOTA-70841 Libris Vault: Updated the “Find the Page of Malfeasance” task to better archive after the page is collected. Longfall Woods: Moved floating pressure plates to the ground. SOTA-70862 Longfall Woods: Updated a quest chest to provide trivial items as well and to respawn after a few minutes. SOTA-70864 Solace Bridge Outskirts: Switched some 1-way vines and roots with 2-way vines and roots. SOTA-70821 Solace Bridge Outskirts: The guards now have an “alchemist” keyword and response. Solania: Fixed a typo and removed a duplicate keyword in Cora the guard’s “Ardoris” response. SOTA-70834 Spindelskog: Fixed an issue where avatars were able to slide up certain trees. SOTA-69343 Vikland: Added a new buried treasure quest. Vikland: Added floating dead bodies to random locations. Added props to village area. Created and added witch statues. Updated terrain, flora, and rocks. SOTA-70791 Vikland: Created a male beggar variant. Added a banker, mailbox, and various props to the village. Fixed a ladder on one of the guard towers. Dead trees now have collision. Vikland: Corrected the name of the Tier 8 Obsidian Melee Elf. SOTA-70813 Vikland: Fixed a typo in Erling’s “Osbern” response. SOTA-70839 Vikland: Hagen now has his own set of responses. Removed redundant “Long Cave” compass marker. Village docks compass marker can now be seen from across the scene. Fixed the teleport targets used by the list teleporter boat in the Vikland village. Vikland: Improved the responses from the raider with the amulet quest. Turned on some lights in the village buildings. The water well is no longer protected from theft. Rebuilt the path grid. Renamed the bunkers to “Obsidian Corridor.” Corrected a slope that was too steep for NPCs. SOTA-70799, SOTA-70801, SOTA-70814 Vikland: Updated terrain within a banana grove. Updated a dead body related to the amulet quest. NPC Frida is now named Baun. Vikland now displays as a “Tier 8+” adventuring scene. Fixed a floating fern. Fixed z-fighting with Obsidian structures. Moved a floating chair to the ground. Pirate shipwreck compass marker is now correctly labeled as such. Moved a floating torch to the ground. Added collision to several Obsidian statues. Fixed several ladder targets.
