I like Alley Oop's suggestion, "can i request a couple of fields for the creature box? tameable (yes/no) and, if so, summoning skill level required (number)". I once found a table of required summoning levels: it helped me choose which creature to tame next. I have since enlarged, (and perhaps warped), said table: it currently exists at page Summonable Pets. Anyway, Alley Oop's suggestion was posted in the forum on 26 Sept 2021, and I don't see those changes.

*Traditionally, we define the pet name and required summoning level on individual pages, (ostensibly describing the taming necklaces for each of the creatures which may be tamed).  I have made a few changes to page Summonable Pets, and template Taming Necklace (Pet) recently: they seem to be working well. Also, template Taming Necklace (Pet) now uses (non-existent?) category Taming Necklaces, so these dozens of pages no longer clutter up category Pets.
*Traditionally, we define summoning levels on separate pages, (each ostensibly describing the taming necklace of a creature which has been tamed).  I created template Taming Necklace (Pet) to make such a page: then page Taming Necklace Summoning Levels tabulates the information. These still seem to be working well. Also, template Taming Necklace (Pet) now uses (non-existent?) category Taming Necklaces, so these dozens of pages no longer clutter up category Pets.

*Alternatively, I've begun inserting the required summoning skill level, explicitly, into the pages of creatures which are tameable. I created template Summonable for this purpose, (cleverly disguised as a link to page Tamed Creature Summoning Levels): insert it under "See Also". Then page Tamed Creature Summoning Levels tabulates these pets by their required summoning levels.

Both approaches work, but I prefer the second approachIt creates the same information, without requiring a separate page to describe each and every creature's required summoning level. While page Summonable Pets remains, I am converting pages which linked to Taming Necklace (Pet) to use template Summoning instead.
I like the second approach: It creates the same information, without requiring a separate page to describe each and every creature's required summoning level. On the other hand, I've modified template Taming Necklace (Pet) to include "Last Seen": this makes it easier to determine whether the information tabulated in Taming Necklace Summoning Levels is current. Both approaches still remain: page Tamed Pet Summoning Levels is more complete at present.

P.S. Still wondering what to do about Young Dragons, Ferocious Wyverns, etc.. It wouldn't seem necessary to list each variety of Young Dragon separately, although this is probably the easiest way to include them. It sounds like Ferocious Wyverns are more complicated?

I don't think I understand how User Pages and Talk are used? No matter. This is my page, and this what I'm currently doing:

Summoning Skill Level Required[edit]

I like Alley Oop's suggestion, "can i request a couple of fields for the creature box? tameable (yes/no) and, if so, summoning skill level required (number)". I once found a table of required summoning levels: it helped me choose which creature to tame next. I have since enlarged, (and perhaps warped), said table: it currently exists at page Taming Necklace Summoning Levels, (renamed from Summonable Pets). Anyway, Alley Oop's suggestion was posted in the forum on 26 Sept 2021, and I don't see those changes.

  • Traditionally, we define summoning levels on separate pages, (each ostensibly describing the taming necklace of a creature which has been tamed).
  • Alternatively, I've begun inserting the required summoning skill level, explicitly, into the pages of creatures which may be tamed. I created template Summonable for this purpose, (cleverly disguised as a link to page Tamed Pet Summoning Levels): insert it under "See Also". Then page Tamed Pet Summoning Levels tabulates these pets by their required summoning levels.

I also posted all the above on Browncoat Jayson's talk page: I seem to recall that he created the table I warped  ;)

P.S. Still wondering what to do about Young Dragons, Ferocious Wyverns, etc.. It wouldn't seem necessary to list each variety of Young Dragon separately, although this is probably the easiest way to include them. It sounds like Ferocious Wyverns are more complicated?
