The Comet (also known as Aether Comet) is a celestial object that appears in the sky of New Britannia for several months per year in real-life time (late May through September). While the comet is visible in the sky, certain zones may spawn Aether Creatures, including the Aether Dragon, Aether Corpion, Aether Lich, and Aether Tetra.
As the comet comes closer to New Britannia (i.e. the larger it appears in the sky), the chance of spawning aether creature becomes more likely. As the comet moves farther away from New Britannia (i.e. the smaller it appears in the sky), the chance of spawning aether creature becomes less likely. When the comet is not visible in the sky, aether creatures do not spawn.
