Encumbrance Capacity (i.e. carry capacity) is the amount of weight you can carry without suffering a penalty. On the Character Sheet and on the Inventory window, there is a statistic called "Weight", which is followed by two values that are separated by a "/". The first value is your Encumbrance (i.e. how much weight you are currently carrying). The second value is your Encumbrance Capacity.

If the weight you are currently carrying exceeds your encumbrance capacity, then you are considered over-encumbered and you receive penalties. For details of over-encumbrance and its penalties, see Encumbrance.
