Encumbrance Capacity (i.e. carry capacity) is the amount of weight you can carry without suffering a penalty. On the Character Sheet and on the Inventory window, there is a statistic called "Weight", which is followed by two values that are separated by a "/". The first value is your Encumbrance (i.e. how much weight you are currently carrying). The second value is your Encumbrance Capacity.
If the weight you are currently carrying exceeds your encumbrance capacity, then you are considered over-encumbered and you receive penalties. For details of over-encumbrance and its penalties, see Encumbrance.
Skills that can affect encumbrance capacity:
- Heavy Lifter skill - buff
- Strength of Earth skill with Earth Specialization - buff
- Strength - buff; any skill that increases strength will increase encumbrance capacity.
Equip-able items that can affect encumbrance capacity:
- The Ring of an Unknown BMC Member - buff
- Belt of the Ox - buff
- Imbued Jewel of the Ox - buff (when using an item socketed with this jewel).
- Quartermaster's Cutlass - buff
- Strength - buff; any item that increases strength will increase encumbrance capacity.
Potions & Food that can affect encumbrance capacity:
- Obsidian Potion of Capacity - buff
- Poison Potion, Chaotic Corruption - debuff
- Bacon - buff
- Strength - buff; any consumable that increases strength will increase encumbrance capacity.
