New page

Under Construction
The history of SotA is still evolving, and the backstory has not all yet been revealed. The New Britannian Calendar dates starts with “The Fall”, a lunar calamity that destroyed much of the Old World. SotA begins 400 years after this, and is maintained by years “Post Cataclysm” or “PC”. Events from before the cataclysm are dated with the “Britannian Calendar” or “BC”, however history from this time is uncertain and vague.

Spoiler
The Age of Shardfall
0 P.C. - The two Moons collided, shattering the larger to form Daedalus. Shards of the smaller fell, devastating the land and its people. Notions of magic and science were tilted on their heads. The Shard Falls appeared, as did new magicks and strange new creatures.

c. 1 P.C. - To escape the devastation, mankind was forced to live underground for some unknown amount of time.

The Obsidian Empire
c. 100-200 P.C. - An orphan is born in a small village on the River Meino, near Rhun. He demonstrates a talent for conjuring and shaping magic, and used it to aid farmers and travelers in the village. Eventually, he steals the book known as Lamentation of the Fall and crosses the Vaughban Mountains into the Grunvald Plains, eventually finding the first of the Shard Falls. Eventually, he masters this new magick and calls himself the Obsidian Eye. Others with the gift for magic came to apprentice to him, forming the Obsidian Cabal.

The fortress of Desolis becomes the headquarters of the Obsidian Cabal. The Obsidian Eye uses the Destiny Pool to foretell the Dire Prophecy.

Inspired by the prophecy, the Cabal formed a large army and became leaders of the Obsidian Empire. The Army of Obsidian Triumph conquered the warlords and city-states of Novia, bringing most of the continent under singular rule.

c. 200 P.C. - Aren Bennis, a captain in the Obsidian army, found an Avatar Blade beneath the conquered city of Midras. Using it, he turned from General Karpasic's army and defects to the Council of Might, who oppose the Obsidian efforts. He travels to Opalis, where he meets the Titans and asked to protect the city's greatest treasure: knowledge accumulated over many centuries. They are able to trick the Obsidian army into attacking the neigh impregnable Citadel of Opalis, as they escape with the valuable books while disguised as refugees.

The Titans use the knowledge of Opalis to construct the Oracle in the Grand Confirmatory in Central Brittany. Sometime later, they have each established their place in other cities: Sequanna lives within the city of Ardoris. Granus becomes king of Norgard and has two sons Ferig and Demig, who are involved in a war with the Kobolds. Boreus travelled to Xenos to instill knowledge.

c 400 P.C. - Recent rumors have that the Titans have gone missing from their home cities, but where they have gone or when they left is subject to some debate.
