Editing Decoration Palette

The '''Decoration Palette''' is a window that lists information about all of the [[Decoration]]s in your current location. If you are on your [[Lot]], it will list all the decorations on your lot (including decorations in your house). If you are in your [[Basement]] or in your [[Player Dungeon]], it will list the decorations in the corresponding location. 

To Display the Decoration Palette, click on the Window Selector icon in the upper right of the game window, then click on "Decoration Palette".

==Contents of the Decoration Palette==
The Palette window lists the following information about each decoration:
* The decoration name
* Whether the decoration is visible or hidden (see below)
* The [[Coordinates]] of the decoration - the coordinates are given in the order of X, Z, Y (X is East-West, Z is elevation/height, Y is North-South).
* The weight of the decoration
* The value of the decoration

The window also shows several bar graphs, each being a representation of how much of your [[Decoration#Decoration_Limits| Decoration Limit]] has been used (hovering your mouse over the bar graph will show a numerical representation of your usage). The bar graphs show usage for
* [[NPC]]s
* Containers
* Objects
* Light Sources

==Visible Versus Hidden Decoration==
The items in the palette can be in either of the following states:
* Visible - decorations that are placed into the environment will automatically be added to the palette list and designated as "Visible".
* Hidden - decorations that are placed directly into the palette (by dragging them into the palette window) are designated as "Hidden". Hidden decorations are located in the palette, and not in the environment (thus their coordinates are listed as 0,0,0). In other words, a hidden decoration is '''''not''''' an item that was placed in the environment and then subsequently made invisible; it is a decoration that has been placed directly into the palette (which means it is '''''not''''' in the environment, and so it does not show there). In essence, the decoration is "hidden" from players who cannot see the Decoration Palette.

The use of the term "Hidden" in this context can be confusing, but the following analogy may help clarify how it relates to the state of the decoration.

You can think of the Decoration Palette as being like a painting palette.
The paint on the palette is like decorations that have been placed in the Decoration Palette.
The environment (a lot, house, basement, or dungeon) is like a canvas to paint on.
And for this analogy, other players can only see the canvas, and cannot see your paint palette.
You can take the paint from the paint palette, and brush it on the canvas (in which case the paint becomes "visible" to those who can see the  canvas).
The paint palette can hold many other colors of paint that have not been put on the canvas yet (and the paint on the palette is "hidden" from those who can only see the canvas).

==Using the Hidden Decoration Feature==
Using the Hidden decoration feature can be helpful when doing extensive decoration.

You can put all the decorations directly into the palette (which puts them in the "Hidden" state), then sort the palette to show hidden items (click the down-arrow in the drop down-box and select "Hidden Decorations Only"), then decorate by dragging each item from the palette to the environment. If you are interrupted during the decoration process, when you return you simply open the decoration palette and continue  decorating.

Also, storing the decorations in the palette obviates the need to carry around a bunch of decorations in your inventory.

==Finding A lost Decoration==
This palette can be very helpful if you cannot find an item on your lot (such as when you forget what container an item is in, or when an item disappears from view).  You can search for the item in the decoration palette window, then simply drag the item out of the palette and into your inventory (which moves the item from the lot/basement/dungeon and into your inventory). Note: a lost decoration is still considered "Visible" by the Decoration Palette because the lost item is still in the environment (even if it is obscured).
